X-axis and Y-axis

In ViewZen Analytics, charts use the X-axis and Y-axis (instead of Dimensions and Measures) to plot data visually, making it easier to for designers to configure and viewers to communicate their interpretations.

X-axis or Horizontal Axis

X-axis can currently be used for the following

  • Dimensions or categories (normally text based fields)

  • Common contexts

  • Number bins

  • Date based groupings such as day, month, year, financial year etc.

Currently only two dimensions are allowed on the X-axis. The second dimension acts as a breakdown column

Y-axis or Vertical Axis

Y-axis can currently be used for the following

  • Measures

  1. Multiple measures can be plotted on the Y-axis of a chart.

  2. You can have multiple Y-axes, with each measure assigned to its own axis.

  3. Measures can either have individual Y-axes or share a single Y-axis, depending on how the data is grouped.
