A visual component is shaped by its properties. The properties dictate the following traits of a visual component
(a) Data & Display – What data it presents, the structure it takes, and the format in which the data is shown.
(b) Appearance – Its visual style and design.
(c) Interactivity – How users can engage with and interact with it.
(d) Additional context or information - Additional insights that can be added to the visual.
In ViewZen Analytics, the above traits are categorised into the following
Data - Under Data, consolidate data fields and their aggregations from one or more datasets to power the visual, effectively providing it with the necessary structure and form.
Format - Use format, to
Define the visual’s style and design by applying appropriate text styles, color schemes, padding, borders, shadows, and more.
Adjust the placement and dimensions of the component on the dashboard.
Provide interactivity by enabling user engagement features.
The properties toolbar comprises of the following tools
Save - The Save button is used to apply changes to the visual. Until the changes are saved, the preview will display the visual with the implemented adjustments, but these changes are not applied to the end-user view. In other words, while they appear in the visual when it is in Edit mode (and the dashboard is in Designer mode), they will not appear in the visual when the dashboard is viewed in Viewer or Present mode until they are saved.
Cancel - The Cancel Changes button allows you to undo the implemented adjustments to the visual. This will restore the properties to the last saved state of the visual.
Filter - The Filter button allows you to apply filters to the visual component's data, such as narrowing down sales data by a specific region or date range to focus on relevant insights.
Close - The Close Panel button is used to close the properties window.
