Filters
Filters in ViewZen Analytics allow users to refine and control the data displayed within dashboards, sheets. zones and visuals. Filters can be used to focus on specific subsets of data, making analysis more targeted and insightful.
Filter Categories
In ViewZen Analtytics, two broad filter categories are supported
Fixed Filters - Fixed filters are permanently applied filters to limit the visual data on predefined conditions. Unlike interactive filters that users can modify, fixed filters remain constant and cannot be changed or removed by end users during dashboard interaction.
Interactive Filters - Interactive filters allow users to dynamically refine and modify the data displayed in visual components based on their selections. These filters enhance user experience by enabling real-time exploration of data.
How to decide when to create a fixed filter and when an interactive filter
Use Case Test - When a dashboard is designed for a specific use case, such as showing only booked orders, overdue payments, or top-performing products use fixed filters.
User Experience Test - If users consistently apply the same interactive filters to view a fixed set of data, consider converting them into fixed filters.
Number Test - If there are too many interactive filters, consider creating a separate dashboard or sheet where some conditions are preset using fixed filters. If there are too many categories (e.g. product categories), consider creating interactive filters rather than multiple dashboards or sheets or components with fixed filters.
Interactivty Test - If users need the ability to interact with data and adjust parameters, use an interactive filter.
Filters based on data types
ViewZen Analytics supports different types of filters based on data types:
Text Filters – Used to filter categorical or descriptive data, such as product names, regions, or customer segments.
Number Filters – Used to filter numerical data using conditions like greater than, less than, equal to, or within a range.
Date Filters – Used to filter data based data on time periods, including fixed or relative dates.
